The saxophonist Alfredo Carlavilla was born in Toledo and at the age of 9 began his contact with music. His professional training begins at the Jacinto Guerrero Music Conservatory in Toledo, with Professor Eloy Gracia, always obtaining the highest marks.

He then moved to Madrid, where he finished his higher degree with Joaquín Franco Pallás (professor at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid), with whom he worked and developed the French school of saxophone created by Marcel Mule at the highest level. His classical, jazz and contemporary musical training is developed and complemented in a self-taught way, combining it with advanced courses in the saxophone technique with the most recognized teachers such as Daniel Deffayet, Jean-Yves Fourmeau, Pedro Iturralde, Manuel Miján, Arno Bornkamp, Claude Delangle, Bob Sand, Marcelo Peralta and Bobby Martínez.

He expands his pedagogical and improvisational knowledge in the courses for teachers of the Institute of Musical Education (IEM) created and directed by the pedagogue Emilio Molina.

Founding member as soprano saxophone and concertmaster of the ensemble "Toledo Symphonic Saxophonists", directed by Eloy Gracia, with whom he has traveled all over Europe as a soloist, currently having several recordings. This group has been directed by such prestigious directors as Enrique García Asensio.

Throughout his musical career he has been a member of numerous groups whose objective has been to help spread and knowledge of the saxophone, performing educational concerts, masterclasses and recordings for radio and television.

At present, in addition to performing in concert as a soloist, he belongs to the chamber groups Dúo Sequencesax (saxophone-piano), Ensemble of Symphonic Saxophonists of Toledo, Jazztime (saxophone-jazz piano), Saxophone Quartet 440, Jazztime Quintet, 440 Sax Quartet. His interest in music has led him to create other groups such as the 440 Big Band Sax, where he works as soloist and conductor. As a producer he presents the musical Quixojazz, where he mixes jazz with Don Quixote.

Among the multitude of halls where he has performed are the National Auditorium of Madrid, the Juan March Foundation, the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Monumental Theater of Madrid, the Ateneo de Madird, the Zaragoza Auditorium, the Agen Auditorium (France) or as a soloist with orchestra in the Royal Theater of Madrid. As for his collaborations with other groups, the Madrid Municipal Symphonic Band or the Toledo Symphony Orchestra stand out.

He currently combines his concert activity with teaching and is Cultural Manager of Theater, Music and Dance at the Complutense University of Madrid.
